MK Dons Community Trust Celebrates Landmark Year for Girls Football Programs
Success Stories and Milestones
The MK Dons Community Trust is marking a year of significant growth and success in its girls' football programs. One notable highlight was the call-up of Ivy Verleacke-Williams to represent Wales Under 15s at an international training camp, following on from other players who have represented England at youth level.
The trust's player pathway programs have seen more than 300 girls engage in sessions throughout the season. These sessions are designed to help participants build confidence and become healthier, active members of their communities. The trust has also expanded its provision for young female footballers with new weekly training sessions available to players of all ages and abilities.
New Programs and Achievements
New initiatives such as the Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) training for girls aged nine to 11 have been launched, while the Girls Performance Centre, which started last year for ages 12-14, has expanded to now include those aged 12-15. Additionally, a Technical Development Centre was established in partnership with The Cottesloe School in Wing.
Across all programs, the trust won 10 trophies, including the U16s' victory in the Aces national competition. Dene Walsh, Head of Community Football at MK Dons Community Trust, expressed excitement about future developments and commitment to helping more girls access high-quality football training every year.
Future Plans and Opportunities
Planning is already underway for the coming season, with pre-season training beginning early. Girls enrolled in the trust's post-16 education program will have the opportunity to enter adult league football for the first time, facilitating full-time training and work towards a sports industry recognized qualification.
