Milton Keynes Dons have completed the signing of winger Sam Silvera on a free transfer after his release from Middlesbrough. The 25-year-old Australian joins as the club's sixth summer signing ahead of their return to League One next season.
Who is Sam Silvera?
Silvera, who made 65 appearances for Middlesbrough across three seasons, was a key player under former manager Rob Edwards at the start of the 2025-26 campaign. However, a foot injury in February disrupted his season, limiting his playing time. Despite this, he scored eight goals during his time at the Riverside Stadium.
Why this move matters for Milton Keynes Dons
Head coach Paul Warne highlighted Silvera's pace and ability to take on defenders as key attributes that will strengthen the team's attack. "Sam is a player we pursued throughout the summer," Warne said. "He brings competition and a different dynamic to our front line." The club has not disclosed the length of Silvera's contract.
What's next for the Dons?
Milton Keynes Dons are preparing for their first season back in League One since the 2022-23 campaign. Their next fixture is an away match against Luton on 16 January 2027. Silvera's addition is part of the club's efforts to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
