A half-term soccer school for children in the area has been launched by the Milton Keynes Dons Community Trust. The mixed soccer school will be held at Fairfields Sports Hub over four days in October.
Daily sessions for children between five and 14 years old will be held from morning until mid-afternoon, with registration starting earlier. The program focuses on football skills training and games, welcoming participants of any skill level. Each day will finish with a tournament where children can represent different countries, with trophies and medals awarded. Specialized training will be provided for goalkeepers in the mornings.
Those attending need to bring essential football gear, a lunch, and a drink, with goalkeepers also requiring gloves.
Development pathway and opportunities
Hannah Bladen, the Trust's Head of Community Development, commented on the initiative. She stated, "Half-term is a great opportunity for young people to get outside, stay active and spend more time doing something they enjoy." The camp allows coaches to identify talented players who may join the Trust's development pathways for boys and girls. Money raised from the camp supports the Trust's broader community projects, which are connected to the professional team.
Parents can use the Abler App to receive updates about their child's day.
Practical information for parents
The daily fee is £20, and booking is open through the Trust's online shop on the Abler platform, with a limited number of spots. This community activity coincides with a period of good form for the club's senior team in the league.
Registration for the October program is currently available via the booking platform.
